Indofood holds "Festival Cita Rasa Pilihan Indonesia" in Medan and Jakarta cities

17 June 2013 - Indonesia is abundant with natural resources and fascinating diverse ethnicity. The two cities also have rich cuisines. Variety of rich taste and nutritious dishes have made the culinary culture of the two cities becoming favorites of the people. The fascinating cuisines of Medan and Jakarta do not only attract local people, but also lure food-lover travelers from other towns to visit the two cities, merely just to taste variety of food that tempting everyone's tongue. It is not surprising to see that today Medan and Jakarta have become favorite places to go for culinary tour.

Realizing this, Indofood has opted Medan and Jakarta, as places to hold an event called "Indofood Festival Cita Rasa Pilihan Indonesia" or Indofood Festival for Selected Favorite Cuisines of Indonesia", an event that would encourage friends and family members to get together through the power of rich culinary tradition. Anastasia Sutadji, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) PT Indofood CBP Sukses Makmur Tbk said that the event was held as an appreciation to the society and business partners who have become loyal consumers of Indofood. Through this event, Indofood tries to attract people to understand and love variety of unique cuisines. "We would like to introduce Indonesian cuisine, which is processed, blended and mixed by food vendors using quality ingredients. So, in addition to producing delicious-taste and nutritious food, we are also hoping the "Indofood Festival Cita Rasa Pilihan Indonesia" could provide new experience for the people," said Anastasia.

In addition to presenting dozens of selected food vendors, Indofood Festival also features Indofood Gallery, where the public can see and get to know variety of Indofood products directly. The visitors can try Indofood products directly as well as see the wall of fame -- a journey from time to time of Indofood. One Small Medium Enterprises which has been assisted by Indofood has made a creation in the form of flour-based Giant Rainbow Bolu measuring 2x2 meters. Snack food creations as well as ice cream creation of Indofood are also presented.

The self-service Indofood stall is provided that enables visitors to buy Indofood products. "Indofood has broad range of product categories, ranging from basic material to ready-to-eat food products for all walks of life and was well-known by the community. These include wheat flour, cooking oil, margarine, milk and derivative products, snack products, food seasoning such as say sauce, chili sauce, various spices, syrup, biscuit and instant noodles," said Anastasia.

According to Karls Nayoan Jap, Consumer Activation Manager PT Indofood CBP Sukses Makmur Tbk, Festival Indofood is held at Yon Zipur yard in Medan and is held for two days, on Saturday and Sunday (18-19 May 2013), and at Plaza and Car Park of Bung Karno Stadion (GBK), Senayan in Jakarta for two days, Saturday and Sunday (1-2 June 2013). The event started from 11.00 WIB to 21.00 WIB). Visitors come to festival free of charge.

In each city, 40 food vendor representatives are present in the Indofood Festival. They come from various regions with unique food, such as Soto Udang Kesawan, Lontong Sayur (rice-cake vegetable) from Medan, Rujak Cingur from East Java , Sate & Kambing Guling Pejompongan (Pejompongan Satay & Grilled Goat Meat) from Jakarta, Ketoprak Ciragil, Aceh food from Seulawah restaurant, Kebon Sirih Fried Rice, Nasi Uduk & Laksa (Steam Riced cooked in coconut milk) by H. Babe Saman, Bakso Lapangan Tembak Senayan, Sate Tulang & Soto Banjar Eldorado, original Gudek (jack-fruit vegetable) from Jogyakarta by Ibu Laminten, Bebek Goreng Kaleyo (Kaleyo Fried Duck), Soto Kesawan (Medan), Kupat Tahu Gempol (Bandung) and many more. They take part in the Indofood Festival as the dishes have become favorite cuisines of the people for many years.

The opening ceremony was enlivened with contemporary art performance and marching band. After the festival opens, Indofood invites the people to jointly bake various foods. Visitors enjoy various activities for two days such as Kungfu Chef, music entertainment presenting popular artists such as Cakra Khan, Ari Lasso, Regina Idol, Andra & The Backbone, Raisa and Geisha. "Children can also enjoy variety of games such as swings, mini basketball, car toys and the like," said Karls.

Indofood establish partnership with World Food Programme (WFP)

What is also interesting about this year's festival is that Indofood invites the public to take part in developing quality future generations by set aside a donation to support nutrition improvement program in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) in collaboration with World Food Program (WWF) since 2011, which is called Laser Beam Project. The program provides nutritious food to 10,000 children to meet the necessary nutrients, especially in their golden period of the first thousand days of life, from the child is still his/her mother womb to the age of 2 years.

The scheme is that every visitor who spends Rp20,000 will get red and blue toks. Red tokens are tokens that can be used by visitors to participate in various games in the Indofood Festival. Blue tokens which are written "better future" are tokens that can be donated to the Laser Beam program. All proceeds donated by visitors in Medan and Jakarta are given to WFP. The program is part of the implementation of building human capital pillars of the corporate social responsibility.

Specifically for Indofood Festival in Medan, the other CSR program held in the event is Pojok Selera which is an entrepreneurship training program for people who are residing around the plantations, factories and branch offices of Indofood. The training aims to develop new entrepreneurs, especially in food business. One Pojok Selera represents SMEs from Langkat, North Sumatera. They display various creation foods like donuts, brownies, rolls, pastries -- all ingredients use Indofood products. They also demonstrate how to make bread that be applied easily by visitors. The programs embody the pillar of strengthening economic value of the Corporate Social Responsibility of Indofood.
